08 How to apply & fee
Applications for CHSL 2026 are closed (07.09.2026 to 07.10.2026; corrections 14–16 October 2026). For the next cycle, this is how the 2026 process worked; always follow the new notice.

- Choose three exam centres in order of priority, all within one SSC Region. The centre cannot be changed later.
- If you want LDC/JSA, choose the typing-test medium (Hindi or English) with care: it is final.
- Pay the fee online, unless you are exempt (see the fee details below), and save the submitted form.
Corrections are allowed only in the notified window, up to two re-submissions, each with a charge for all candidates.
Common mistakes
- Name or date of birth that does not match your documents.
- Wrong category, or claiming a fee exemption you are not eligible for.
- Applying with an old ssc.nic.in OTR.

11 Weightage explorer
We do not count topics from SSC papers. The official notice fixes the section structure (four Tier-I subjects of 25 questions each); within each subject, the topic mix in our mocks is our editorial judgement based on the indicative syllabus in the notice (paras 13.10 and 13.11), clearly labelled as editorial. It is never a probability of what will be asked.
12 Previous year papers
SSC does not publish CHSL question papers as open public documents. After the result, each candidate can see only their own response sheet with the final key, by login and for a limited period. SSC's notice of 08.09.2025 also warns content creators, social-media platforms and individuals not to discuss, analyse or disseminate SSC question papers or their contents, citing the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
So we do not host memory-based papers, reproduce SSC questions or publish shift-wise question or topic analysis. Our mocks use original questions written to the official pattern and the indicative syllabus in the notice; the topic mix is our editorial judgement and is labelled as such.
SSC does not publish CHSL question papers as open public documents. After the result, each candidate can view the final answer key with their own response sheet by login for a limited period (CHSL 2025 Tier-I: 19.03.2026 to 09.04.2026). Successfied does not host or reproduce SSC questions.

Rows as printed in para 6 (pages 2–10) with post names/departments from para 7 (pages 10–12), spellings as printed. We omit the 'Date of Birth' column of the last selected candidate. Rows with '-' (no candidate shortlisted, or none in that category) have null marks. Horizontal categories (ESM, OH, HH, VH, OTHERS) show the last candidate selected against that horizontal vacancy and are also counted in their vertical category, so column sums are not meaningful and no declared total is set. Our sum check against the write-up's category totals (paras 3 and 5, page 1): vacancies UR 1675, SC 490, ST 252, OBC 768, EWS 337 (= 3522), ESM 301, OH 35, HH 43, VH 39, Others 37; allocated UR 1674, SC 487, ST 251, OBC 766, EWS 337 (= 3515), ESM 300, OH 35, HH 42, VH 39, Others 37 — all match. 'Total Marks' is printed without a maximum; merit is the aggregate of Tier-II Section-I + Section-II (CHSL 2025 notice para 17.10, page 27; each section 60*3 = 180, para 13.8, page 17), hence max 360. FRTA was declared 17.08.2026; this final result is dated 07.10.2026.

Official numbers only. Any expected cut-off is a labelled estimate with its method and a range — never a single confident number.
15 Selection process
Tier-I only shortlists you for Tier-II: its marks are not added to the final merit (they are used only to break ties). Merit is decided by Tier-II Section-I (Mathematical Abilities + Reasoning) and Section-II (English + General Awareness), 180 marks each, 360 in all. Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test) and Section-IV (Skill Test for DEO, Typing Test for LDC/JSA) are qualifying and held on the same day; you must qualify in every section.
Before allocation you fill an online Option Form with post and department preferences. It is final and irreversible, and you are not considered for anything you did not opt for, so list every post you would genuinely accept. Results are on merit-cum-preference, after which the user departments verify documents. SSC keeps no reserve or waiting list.
If a computer-based exam is held in multiple shifts, marks are normalised using the procedure SSC published on 02.06.2025, and normalised scores decide merit and cut-offs. The 2025 procedure is equipercentile: percentiles are computed per shift, pulled back to the marks scale across all sessions, and each percentile is mapped to a normalised score.

Tier-I (CBE, shortlisting for Tier-II) → Tier-II (Session-I: Sections I–III; Session-II: Section-IV Skill/Typing Test, same day; all sections must be qualified) → online post/department preference (Option Form, final and irreversible) → First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) with sliding → final result on merit-cum-preference → Document Verification by the user departments. No reserve/waiting list.

16 Admit card & exam-day kit
SSC uploads exam city and time-table information about 10 days before the exam, and the Admission Certificate can be downloaded 2–3 days before, from ssc.gov.in after logging in with your registration details.
Exam-day checklist
- Printed Admission Certificate.
- Original photo ID showing your date of birth.
- If you did not complete Aadhaar-based authentication: also two recent colour passport photos, and report 2 hours before the start.
- Only the items your Admission Certificate permits. Follow the instructions printed on it.
CBT tips
- Each Tier-I subject has its own 15-minute timer. The notice does not say whether unused time carries over, so plan to finish each part within its 15 minutes.
- Use the question palette to see answered, unanswered and marked questions at a glance; mark for review only what you will really come back to.
- Get comfortable reading on screen and answering with the mouse; our mocks use the same layout and timers.
- Check how guessing affects your expected score with our attempt-strategy tool.

17 Answer key & objections
After the exam, SSC publishes tentative answer keys. Challenges are online only, at ₹50 per question (non-refundable), and there is no re-evaluation or re-checking of scores. For CHSL 2025 Tier-I, the final keys with each candidate's own response sheet were available by login from 19.03.2026 to 09.04.2026.
Tier-I raw score = 2 × correct − 0.5 × wrong (out of 200). Example: 70 correct and 16 wrong gives 140 − 8 = 132. For Tier-II Sections I–III it is 3 × correct − 1 × wrong. Our score calculator applies this marking to your responses.
If the exam is held in multiple shifts, SSC normalises the marks (an equipercentile method), and normalised scores decide merit and cut-offs, so your final score can differ from the raw score.
To challenge a key, do it within the window announced with the tentative key: pick the question, give your reason with proof from a standard source, and pay per question.
Tentative answer keys are published after the exam; challenges online only, ₹50 per question (non-refundable). No re-evaluation or re-checking of scores.

21 FAQs
Is there negative marking in SSC CHSL 2026?
Yes. In Tier-I, 0.50 mark is deducted for each wrong answer (each question carries 2 marks). In Tier-II Sections I, II and III, 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer (each question carries 3 marks).
What is the Tier-I pattern?
Four parts of 25 questions and 50 marks each (English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness): 100 questions, 200 marks, 60 minutes, with a 15-minute sectional timer for each subject (80 minutes in all, 20 per subject, for scribe-eligible candidates).
Is Tier-II merit out of 360 or 405?
360. Session-I has Section-I (180) + Section-II (180) + Section-III, the Computer Knowledge Test (45) = 405 objective marks, but Section-III is qualifying, so merit uses Sections I and II only: 360.
When is Tier-I?
SSC's schedule notice of 01.10.2026 lists 30 November to 31 December 2026 as the proposed Tier-I dates. Exam city information comes about 10 days before your exam, and the Admission Certificate 2–3 days before. Tier-II dates are to be notified later.
What is the age limit?
18 to 27 years on 01-08-2026, before relaxation: candidates born not before 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008 are eligible. Relaxations include SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years and PwBD 10 years.
Can I apply if I was appearing in Class 12?
Yes, but the result had to be declared by 07-10-2026, the date on which the 12th-pass qualification is reckoned. For DEO/DEO Grade 'A' in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC and the Ministry of Culture, 12th must be in the Science stream with Mathematics.
Are Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant posts in CHSL 2026?
No. The CHSL 2026 notice lists only LDC/JSA, DEO and DEO Grade 'A'.
In which languages is the exam held?
Tier-I Parts II–IV (General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness) are set in English, Hindi and the language you opted for from Annexure-XV (15 languages in all). The English Language part tests English. Tier-II follows the same rule except the English module.
How are marks normalised?
If a computer-based exam is held in multiple shifts, marks are normalised by the procedure SSC published on 02.06.2025, an equipercentile method: percentiles are worked out per shift and mapped back to a common marks scale. Normalised scores decide merit and cut-offs.
What is the typing test standard?
For LDC/JSA: English 35 words per minute or Hindi 30 words per minute, in 10 minutes (Hindi in Mangal font only); it is qualifying. DEO posts have a separate Skill Test measured in key depressions per hour (15,000 or 8,000, depending on the department).
